We’ve had some students that no feel with technology and there was coaxing that had to be done but they’ve improved so much. Kindergarten classrooms have each have three iPads that are used for station activities, but Swartzentruber and the other kindergarten teachers said one day each week, they use a cart of iPads to inform about children not only computer and device skills... “We did Reading Eggs and Math Seeds, something the kids were already using during their stations,” she said, adding students each have their own buyer name. “We’re also using literacy blocks and students can scan a QR code and it will take them to program where a story will be read to them. The teachers said they also take the place of what other teachers around the country are doing in their classrooms. Kavanaugh said another program they use with students is called Seesaw. That program allows students to shelter a portfolio of his or her work. ’ and I can go in and comment on what he’s done that day,” said Kavanaugh, who said teachers must approve the comments before they can be posted. “We are in the research stage but we are super excited about all we’ve done in a short period of time,” said Swartzentruber. Madison said the corporation should be skilful to pay for the project, which will come in around $98,500, with the energy savings the school earns over the course of about four years. “With our energy savings wrinkle, they’re projecting a five year savings of about $135,000,” said Madison who said many of the school’s current fixtures will be retrofitted. “The lighting will be brighter, cleaner and more proficient. This is really a win-win for us. ”. Along with those LED that will placed in the hallways, Madison said 35 emergency lights will also be installed. In addition to that project, RTC Communications will introduce new wiring and a new phone system that will come at a cost savings of about $400 per month to the corporation. That new phone system will allow all the corporation’s buildings to all talk with more easily. After corporation treasurer Carmen Yoder suffered a medical emergency a couple of weeks ago, the school board made the firmness to name Katrina Murphy, the interim middle/high school treasurer. “Carmen continues to improve every day,” said Madison. “But we needed to get something in spot and Katrina has agreed to take on that position for now. Marlene Swartzentruber, the North Daviess treasurer, was helping Murphy learn the ropes Tuesday evening. “I over it’s indicative of the people in our area,” said board member Ron Boyd.
